Jeremy Bloxwich, father of the bride, York Minster wedding 30/5

We had the most wonderful day on 30th May not least because of the absolutely lovely singing from the choir. The Gloria took everyones breath away and I particularly enjoyed the Faure. It was all truly impressive and it seems so unfair that we did not get the opportunity to thank each of the choristers personally on the day. I tried, probably inadequately, to acknowledge everyone as we processed in and out but inevitably only caught the eye of one or two people. I am of course dropping a line to Stuart but in the meantime thank you all so much.

James Foster - Bar Convent, York

Dear Rosemary and Stuart,
What a wonderful evening! Thank you to you and all the Singers for providing us with another special occasion. The programme was so thoughtfully arranged and it was so beautifully delivered, it has to be the very best way to get Advent celebrations under way!
We think that Stamford Bridge Singers are one of the finest choirs in the area and we certainly look forward to arranging next year’s performance.

Best wishes for all your other events before Christmas and then a peaceful break to you all thereafter.
James

Michael Harran, Gate Helmsley

This is just a brief message to thank everyone involved for providing such an outstanding evening of musical entertainment on Saturday.

Many people have already been in touch to say how much they enjoyed the performance – choir and soloists – and I think that was clearly evident in the hall on the night.

Just over £1500 was raised to give a very welcome boost to the Organ Restoration Fund and we are extremely grateful to you all for that.

On behalf of the Organ Fundraising Appeal group, thank you again, and particular congratulations to Stuart for such a successful debut as Director.

Barry

Sincerest thanks for all your efforts, Michael, in both creating and nurturing such a lovely choir. I hope that we will manage to maintain both the passion and enthusiasm as well as the quality that you have achieved with the choir in the future.
Finally, what a lovely weekend of singing in the Welsh cathedrals which was both a real pleasure and a privilege including such a lovely social side to it as well.

Eleanor

I would just like to thank you for inviting me to sing with the choir in Wales.
I enjoyed the week-end so very much and it cheered me up tremendously! It reminded me just how much I really miss everyone in the choir and it also reminded me of all the wonderful opportunities it has given me as a musician and also how it has inspired me musically!

Geoffrey Coffin

I know that everyone was very anxious that the weekend’s services in North Wales should be a great success, not least because they marked the end of your quarter century with the Singers. It says so much for your careful work with the choir over all of this time that their choral discipline could almost be assumed! As ever, the attention to detail – so vital in any music – was always apparent though always within the context of the music as a whole. We all know choirs that sing well technically but lack musicianship so it is a tribute to your achievements that the SBS can most certainly boast both virtues!

Wedding in York Minster:

I'm thrilled that we were able to add to the occasion. I was extremely impressed with your choir. Having worked with many "professionals", many could do to watch and learn! I have to say it was an absolute pleasure to work with you and the choir. I'm sure "Zadok" must have made quite an impression!

John Newlove, The Derwent Lions Club

Please pass on thanks from everyone at Derwent Lions to everyone in the Stamford Bridge Singers for the marvellous A Dickens of a Christmas concert on Friday evening. Everyone seemed to have a great night. We were certainly pleased with the ticket sales.

James Foster, General Manager, The Bar Convent.

Thank you for another outstanding performance. We have welcomed many choirs to the Convent this year and certainly The Stamford Bridge Singers are amongst the very best. I have had some very encouraging feedback from many who attended - many were surprised by the quality and the size of the choir. Thank you again and best wishes for Christmas and The New Year.

Janet, David and Elizabeth Harrison

To the choir members, I am contacting you to say how very much my husband , daughter and I enjoyed your concert in The Bar Convent. The balance of items was so well arranged and the quality of your singing was excellent. We could hear every word. A final word to the very young lady on the front row who concentrated so well all the way through. Many thanks again, and all good wishes for Christmas, Janet, David and Elizabeth Harrison.

Joyce Kingman

Thank you for a wonderful evening of music in Welburn Church. The choir were in fine form producing a balanced, rich sound with perfectly clear words. Ray Sturdy's organ playing was miraculous!

Enid Woodward

We really had a most enjoyable evening at the Jubilee Cabaret at Stamford bridge on 13 October, it was quite clear that everyone had put in a great deal of hard work. The choir were excellent and also the swing band, not to mention the food, which was served at high speed in a very efficient manner. Thank you all for a splendid evening!

Beth Wallace

Thank you for a most memorable evening on Saturday. The concert was again brilliant. What a Choir. You so deserve a big well done!!

Don and Lis Wilkinson

On October 13 Stamford Bridge Singers entertained at home to a packed audience in the Village Hall transformed into a gigantic street party to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen. The entertainment began with some superb woodwind music from Stamford Bridge Swing Group and then the Choir treated the audience to an Andrew Lloyd Webber medley before serving a splendid gastronomic buffet. We had an interlude of songs from My Fair Lady before the desserts were served. The grand finale consisted of Songs from the Sixties and a rousing sing song for all to join in, featuring popular traditional and patriotic songs. This resulted in much flag waving from choir and audience alike, concluding with a loyal toast to the Queen. The Musical Director Michael Wiles and the Singers were warmly congratulated on their excellent entertainment. We hope the Choir will sing at home for us again very soon.

Marie and John Edwards

We would like to offer many congratulations to all those involved in the excellent evening provided by Stamford Bridge Singers on Saturday. We thoroughly enjoyed all the performances. Marie and John Edwards
